LSG Skychefs Brahim Sdn Bhd WMS
LSG Sky Chefs Brahim Sdn Bhd, one of Asia’s leading providers of airline catering services at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, has chosen the partnership group of ASS (M) Sdn Bhd & MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd, following an open tender exercise, to upgrade the existing LSGB In flight Catering Centre Warehouse Management System (WMS).
The award by LSG Sky Chefs Brahim Sdn Bhd follows on from the very successful upgrade of the Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) ‘Cart Transport Management System’ (CTMS) at the SICC2 facility on Singapore’s Changi Airport, also undertaken by the partnership of ASS and MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd.
The award by LSG Sky Chefs Brahim to ASS (M) Sdn Bhd and MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd follows a detailed tender process where the proposed solution of ASS & MHA was eventually selected as the preferred technical solution.
The existing WMS system has been in operation for over 10 years, and is being updated to address obsolete hardware and redundant software issues as well as introduce major new functionality to the system.
The system will adopt the latest Stratus fault tolerant server hardware. All client PCs and printers are being replaced, a new SCADA will be introduced based on Wonderware InTouch 10.1, and the core Oracle database components will be upgraded to the latest version. The client software is being redeveloped, using Microsoft .NET technology. The back-end database functions are being overhauled to provide improvements and additional features.
The existing Warehouse Management System undertakes the complete warehouse input/output, movement of all warehouse stock incorporating management interfaces to the host BAAN and SAP systems along with control and movement interfaces to the complete warehouse material handling systems consisting of bin conveyors, pallet conveyors, inline buffer cranes, inline buffer racks and the high bay crane systems. There are in excess of 28400 locations across 4 stores, operating at an average of 5000 warehouse movements per day.
The system will be upgraded in a phased programme with completion planned for the end of 2010.
This project further enhances the long-term relationship between the ASS companies and MacDonald Humfrey (Autoumation) Ltd in the field of automation and technical solutions to industry.
