SATS Catering Training Program

SATS Catering Pte Ltd have instructed ASS Pte Ltd to provide a Technical Training Program for the maintenance staff based at the SICC2 facility. The program includes for the preparation and presentation of training materials associated with the automated systems deployed at SICC2.



With ASS's vast knowledge of the control systems they are able to compile the relevant training material from the various existing system documents and from the documentation provided by ASS during various recent upgrade projects.

ASS have been supporting SATS for several years and the ASS technical staff and management have intimate knowledge of the systems.

The training will take place at the SICC2 facility during the period June 2011 to August 2011.

Health and Safety Initiative

ASS Pte Ltd have started the bizSAFE journey which is an initiative set-up by the Workplace Safety and Health Council of Singapore: www.wshc.sg

The bizSAFE program promotes workplace safety and health through the recognition of companies safety and health efforts.

SATS Catering Preventive Maintenance and Support

SATS Catering Pte Ltd have awarded ASS Pte Ltd with the Preventive Maintenance and Support Contract for their Automated Systems located at the SICC2 facility, Changi Airport, Singapore. ASS Pte Ltd have been supporting SATS at this site since 2005. The coverage of the new contract has been extended to include the upgraded Cart Transport Management System which was successfully implemented by ASS during 2009. The full scope of work includes for comprehensive Preventive Maintenance, 365 day x 24 hr support both locally in Singapore and from the UK, 3rd party support for the Stratus ft Servers, Ethernet Network and Anti Virus updates.



The systems covered under the scope of the contract are the Cart Transport Power and Free Conveyor, and the Material Handling Bin Conveyors. The associated control systems are the Cart Transport Management System (CTMS) inclusive of the communications Bridge and SCADA, the Bin Management System (BMS) inclusive of the communications Bridge and SCADA, Modicon PLCs, Data Logic Bar Code Scanning equipment and Eureka RFID equipment.

Danone Dumex Automated Packaging Lines

Danone Dumex, the International producers of Infant Formula Products have awarded ASS (M) Sdn Bhd with the project to upgrade their packing lines associated with the EazyPack concept package at their facility in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.



The project involves modifications to the existing lines previously supplied and installed by ASS and an additional line to cater for increased production. The equipment includes ASS’s Line Shaft Conveyors, Lift-Up Gates and SOCO Carton Strapping Machines.

The scope of supply includes for the complete control system utilising SEW Variable Speed Drive controllers and an Omron PLC.

ASS have been working together with Danone Dumex for the past 7 years and this project further enhances our relationship.

LSG Skychefs Brahim Sdn Bhd WMS

LSG Sky Chefs Brahim Sdn Bhd, one of Asia's leading providers of airline catering services at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, has chosen the partnership group of ASS (M) Sdn Bhd & MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd, following an open tender exercise, to upgrade the existing LSGB In flight Catering Centre Warehouse Management System (WMS).



The award by LSG Sky Chefs Brahim Sdn Bhd follows on from the very successful upgrade of the Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS) 'Cart Transport Management System' (CTMS) at the SICC2 facility on Singapore's Changi Airport, also undertaken by the partnership of ASS and MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd.

The award by LSG Sky Chefs Brahim to ASS (M) Sdn Bhd and MacDonald Humfrey (Automation) Ltd follows a detailed tender process where the proposed solution of ASS & MHA was eventually selected as the preferred technical solution.

The existing WMS system has been in operation for over 10 years, and is being updated to address obsolete hardware and redundant software issues as well as introduce major new functionality to the system.

The system will adopt the latest Stratus fault tolerant server hardware. All client PCs and printers are being replaced, a new SCADA will be introduced based on Wonderware InTouch 10.1, and the core Oracle database components will be upgraded to the latest version. The client software is being redeveloped, using Microsoft .NET technology. The back-end database functions are being overhauled to provide improvements and additional features.

The existing Warehouse Management System undertakes the complete warehouse input/output, movement of all warehouse stock incorporating management interfaces to the host BAAN and SAP systems along with control and movement interfaces to the complete warehouse material handling systems consisting of bin conveyors, pallet conveyors, inline buffer cranes, inline buffer racks and the high bay crane systems. There are in excess of 28400 locations across 4 stores, operating at an average of 5000 warehouse movements per day.

The system will be upgraded in a phased programme with completion planned for the end of 2010.

This project further enhances the long-term relationship between the ASS companies and MacDonald Humfrey (Autoumation) Ltd in the field of automation and technical solutions to industry.
